Considered one of the best-preserved medieval villages, it is entirely devoted to wine. Since 1967, the Stianti Mascheroni family has produced elegant, supple wines with great dedication and expertise—today using organic methods. The vineyards belonging to Castello di Volpaia lie at altitudes of 450 to 600 metres above sea level, making Volpaia one of the highest-altitude wineries in the Chianti region.
