His nephew Justin-Marcel carried on the legacy with a pioneering spirit: he perfected the traditional method in the unique cellars and introduced Touraine’s fine, delicate sparkling wines to audiences far beyond Europe. With an eye to the future, Justin-Marcel also recognised the importance of emerging tourism. He opened the cellars to visitors, created new wine experiences and took Monmousseau onto the international stage—from transatlantic liners to the United States, where the brand was already represented in 1928.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eThe region\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Loire Valley wine-growing region in western France is sometimes, and unfairly, overshadowed by the country’s more prestigious wine regions. The growing areas stretch from the hills of the Auvergne inland, along the Loire, to the area around Nantes on the Atlantic coast. Cold, harsh winters, frequent frost well into spring and varied soils—from granite and limestone to crumbly tuff—give the wines wonderful minerality.
