About Bioweingut Lenz

The biodynamic winery has been owned by Roland and Karin Lenz since 1994. It is located in the idyllic Iselisberg in the canton of Thurgau and, with an area of 27 hectares, is one of the largest Demeter wineries in Switzerland. In addition to various nut and fruit trees, cereals such as spelt, buckwheat and oats, and wild herbs, they cultivate 22 hectares of planted vineyard together with their team. The family business deliberately focuses on sustainable, fungus-resistant grape varieties that can fully ripen in the local microclimate, because only optimally ripe and healthy grapes are processed at the energy-autonomous organic winery.

The region

Spoilt by the Foehn: In the pre-alpine eastern part of the country along the Rhine, there is a large number of winegrowers, many of them only a few hectares small. The Eastern Swiss winemakers press red wines almost exclusively from the demanding Pinot Noir vine. In addition, the white Riesling vine and many other varieties also thrive in Eastern Switzerland. Thanks to the frequent Foehn conditions and the invigorating moisture from rivers and lakes, exceptionally high-quality wines that are popular beyond national borders are produced,
