Bodegas Alto Moncayo Campo de Borja D.O. Alto Moncayo 2023 Red Wine – This wine shines garnet red in the glass; the nose offers powerful aromas of blackberry, cherry, and chocolate. On the palate, intense dried fruit notes and a hint of licorice are added, framed by velvety tannins, wonderful freshness, and an incredibly full, soft, and very harmonious body. Its long finish makes this wine a lasting pleasure.

About Bodegas Alto Moncayo

The Bodegas Alto Moncayo winery is located in the Denominación de Origen Campo de Borja (DO, wine quality standard). In 2002, the winemakers started the project of producing the highest quality Garnacha wines from the oldest vineyards of the local Garnacha grape variety. This project has preserved true treasures that would otherwise have disappeared. At the foothills of the Moncayo, 100 hectares of “Garnacha de Monte” were planted several decades ago, which are now processed in the winery. Here, everything revolves around perfecting the Garnacha grape. What is also done excellently: thanks to aging in new barriques for between 16 and 24 months, the wines mature into an incredibly full, dense, and wonderfully fruity delight. The highest quality of Garnacha wines!

The Region

The northeastern Spanish region of Aragón encompasses the wide Ebro Valley and is dominated in the north by the Pyrenees, which supply the dry valley with water. Due to this location, the wines here have great potential. Small, excellent wineries with a strong focus on quality make Aragón, with its four DO zones Cariñena, Calatayud, Campo de Borja, and Somontano, increasingly interesting for wine lovers. Red Garnacha and Tempranillo are mainly grown here.
