The Region

The northeastern Spanish region of Aragon encompasses the broad Ebro Valley and is dominated to the north by the Pyrenees, which provide the dry valley with water. Due to this location, the wines here show great potential. Small, excellent wineries with a distinct focus on quality make Aragon, with its four D.O. zones of Cariñena, Calatayud, Campo de Borja, and Somontano, increasingly interesting for wine lovers. The red Garnacha and Tempranillo varieties are primarily cultivated here.
