Diemersfontein Pinotage Wellington Carpe Diem Reserve 2024 Red Wine – A full-bodied, lingering, spicy wine, dark red with a hint of violet reflections and a very intense, complex bouquet of dried plums, some vegetal notes, vanilla spice and blackberry aromas. It is beautifully fresh and wonderfully aromatic on the palate, with soft tannins and a harmonious, full-bodied structure.

About Diemersfontein

Vines have been growing at Diemersfontein since the early 1970s. However, quality wines have only been produced since 2001, when the current owner, David Sonnenberg, established a winery. Diemersfontein wines immediately attracted international attention and acclaim; the very first vintage won the Paul Sauer Trophy for the best barrel-aged Pinotage at the South African Young Wine Show. Today, Diemersfontein wines are enjoyed worldwide and regularly receive high ratings at wine competitions and in specialist publications. The estate itself also offers accommodation for holidaymakers.

The region

Located in the extreme south of Africa, in the heart of the Cape wine region and around 60 kilometres from Cape Town and the sea, Wellington is one of South Africa’s most important and fastest-growing wine regions. Wine has been grown here on the gentle hills for over 100 years, thanks to the favourable Mediterranean climate; the region came into its own in the 1940s. In the shelter of the mountains, the varied soils, from granite to sandstone, nurture grapes for concentrated, aromatic, fresh and elegant wines made from the leading varieties Pinotage and Chenin Blanc, as well as other varieties ranging from Shiraz and Cabernet to Viognier.
