Freixenet Cava DO Brut Vintage Reserva Sparkling Wine – A fresh, fruity and light sparkling wine. Pale yellow with subtle green reflections. A rather restrained bouquet with a fine complexity nonetheless. Stone-fruit aromas (pear) predominate slightly, accompanied by citrus notes, floral accents (lime blossom), biscuit and a subtle hint of yeast. On the palate, the sparkling wine has a lovely mousse, is dry and shows a nicely pronounced acidity. It is medium-bodied. On the palate, a slightly vegetal note (grass/hay) and another hint of yeast emerge. Short finish.

About Freixenet

The world’s leading traditional sparkling wine brand (“Established 1861”) takes its name from the ash groves in the surrounding area: Freixe means ash tree in Spanish. The company’s stated aim is to inspire wine lovers with the brand’s passion and joie de vivre. The company’s unprecedented success story began with the marriage of Dolores Sala to her great love, Pedro Ferrer Bosch. The two made an unbeatable team: Dolores was ahead of her time in her detailed knowledge of winemaking, and together with Pedro’s keen business instincts, their sparkling wines quickly gained fame and recognition. Today, Pedro and Dolores’ children and grandchildren run the family business.

The region

Catalonia is a renowned region in northeastern Spain. The Catalans are the driving force and the greatest innovators in Spanish viticulture. They were the first to produce sparkling wine in Penedès using the Champagne method—and Cava continues to play an important role here to this day. This large wine-growing region is home to every microclimate imaginable for viticulture. Along the coast, the sea brings freshness and moisture, while inland the climate is drier and hotter. Mountain ranges, with their hills and steep slopes, also give rise to many exceptional terroirs, particularly on limestone and clay soils. These natural conditions, combined with the local winegrowers’ ingenuity, produce an abundance of outstanding wines.
