In Jack Daniel's Rye, the spicy-peppery rye character, which is due to the composition of the grain mash, comes into its own.

For many decades, everything at Jack Daniel's revolved around the famous Sour Mash Bill of No.7, which is still on the market today in all sorts of variations. For the rye whiskey, the producer in the U.S. state of Tennessee finally ventured to create a new basic recipe. This time, 70% rye, 18% corn and 12% malted barley went into the vat to mash in and ferment. Charcoal filtration, which makes the bourbon a true Tennessee whiskey, then followed distillation and aging in typical American white oak barrels. The result is an aromatic blend of dry spices, sweet caramel and peppery rye.
