La Spinetta Il Nero di Casanova Toscana Sangiovese IGT Organic 2022 Red Wine – This wine is full-bodied, lingering and balanced, with a garnet-red colour, a slight brownish tinge and hints of violet. The nose reveals fairly intense, complex aromas of plum, sour cherry and damson, with hints of berries and dried fruit, toasted bread, liquorice, pepper and vanilla. Its structure is harmonious, rounded and fairly soft. Alongside the fruity aromas are subtle grassy, toasty and spicy notes, leading to a medium-length finish.

About La Spinetta

Giorgio Rivetti, head of La Spinetta, is passionate about Barolo. But his roots lie in Moscato: when the family founded La Spinetta in the heart of the Moscato region in 1977, it demonstrated the grape’s potential by producing Italy’s first single-vineyard wines. Today, La Spinetta also stands for quality wines from Tuscany that emphasise the uniqueness of the grapes and terroir and reflect the character of the vineyards and soils. Giorgio Rivetti is a successful businessman. Together with his brothers Carlo and Bruno, he runs La Spinetta with great passion, creativity and hard work. Low yields per hectare, avoiding fertilisers and hand-harvesting healthy grapes are the foundation of La Spinetta’s high-quality, richly extracted wines.

The Region

Alongside Piedmont, Tuscany is probably Italy’s most famous wine-growing region. The Etruscans cultivated vines there long before the Romans, making it one of Europe’s oldest wine-growing regions. Tuscany is best known—and rightly proud—for its world-famous Chianti and Brunello. In fact, however, it is Italy’s largest producer of top-quality wines. Blessed with abundant sunshine, cooled by sometimes strong sea breezes and still receiving enough rain, Tuscan vines produce outstanding wines on poor limestone, clay and sandstone soils, as well as on various combinations of these, delighting wine lovers around the world.
