Marchesi di Barolo Barbaresco DOCG Tradizione 2022 Red Wine – This garnet-red wine is both elegant and full-bodied. Its complex bouquet captivates the nose with notes of dried fruit, ripe blueberries and blackcurrants, cloves and vanilla. On the palate, it is dry and fresh, with beautifully pronounced tannins. A hint of earthiness complements the fruit and spice notes, while the wine is full-bodied and harmonious on the palate, with a long finish.

About Marchesi di Barolo

More than 200 years ago, the Marquises Falletti, former owners of the winery, created the “wine of kings” in their historic castle: Barolo. Another pioneer associated with the name Barolo since that time is Pietro Emilio Abbona, an ancestor of the family that owns the winery today. He introduced the wine of his region—and Cantina Marchesi di Barolo—to the world. Today, the wines from Marchesi di Barolo still live up to their illustrious name. They are incredibly powerful and long-lived—and have won numerous international awards for good reason.

The Region

Piedmont (“at the foot of the mountains”), in north-western Italy, lies along the southern foothills of the Alps. The climate is demanding: with the exception of the area around the Po Valley, it is considerably cooler here than in the rest of Italy. Short, dry summers give way to foggy autumns and very cold winters. Piedmont’s winegrowers have risen successfully to this challenge: alongside Tuscany, Piedmont produces more of Italy’s finest wines than any other region, with unmistakably full-bodied, complex aromas shaped by these distinctive climatic conditions. The red grape variety Barbera predominates, followed by Dolcetto and Nebbiolo, the grape used to make the famous Barolo. The vines grow at elevations of 150 to 400 metres above sea level in a variety of soils, from clay-rich soils that produce a layered bouquet to calcareous sandy soils that contribute to the wine’s robust structure.
