Marchesi di Barolo Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC Michet 2023 Red Wine – This garnet-red Nebbiolo is fruity, persistent, full-bodied, and balanced. A medium-bodied and quite complex bouquet of strawberries and blackberries, with notes of plum, dried fruit, and smoky aromas, rises to the nose. On the palate, it is dry, quite soft, full, and harmonious; the finish presents hints of roasted aromas (toast) in addition to the fruit notes, rounded off by a medium-length finish.

About Marchesi di Barolo
Over 200 years ago, the Marquises Falletti, former owners of the winery in the historic castle, created the "Wine of Kings": Barolo. One of the figures historically associated with the name Barolo is also a pioneer: Pietro Emilio Abbona, an ancestor of the current owner family, made the wine of his region—and with it, the Cantina Marchesi di Barolo—famous all over the world. The wines from Marchesi di Barolo still do honor to their great name today. They are incredibly powerful, long-lived, and not without reason, they have received numerous international awards.
The Region
The northwestern Italian region of Piedmont ("at the foot of the mountains") lies at the southern foothills of the Alps. The climatic conditions are demanding: except for the area around the Po Valley, it is significantly cooler here than in the rest of Italy. Short, dry summers are followed by foggy autumns and very cold winters. It is a challenge that Piedmontese winemakers successfully meet: alongside Tuscany, Piedmont produces the most top-class Italian wines with unmistakably full-bodied, multifaceted aromas, which can be attributed to these specific climatic conditions. The red grape variety Barbera dominates, followed by Dolcetto and Nebbiolo, from which the famous Barolo is produced. The vines thrive between 150 and 400 m above sea level on various soils—from clayey for a complex bouquet to calcareous sandy soils, which favor a strong structure in the wine.
