About Peter Zemmer

Since 1928, the Peter Zemmer family winery has stood for wines full of character from the south of South Tyrol. In the vineyards, which extend from the valley floor to higher altitudes, wines with a clear origin and distinct terroir character are created. With great care in the vineyard and the cellar, the Zemmer family combines tradition with modern cellar technology. The goal is to preserve the natural expressive power of the grapes and to capture the unique features of the alpine climate. This results in elegant, authentic wines that reflect the landscape and the viticultural tradition of South Tyrol.

The Region

South Tyrol/Trentino is one of the smallest Italian wine-growing regions. A wide variety of altitudes, soil compositions, and climatic conditions make it highly multifaceted; numerous grape varieties find a suitable environment here. To the north, the Alps protect against cold winds, while from the south, Mediterranean currents from Lake Garda and the Mediterranean Sea influence the open landscape. The best sites are located between 600 and 800 meters above sea level and produce promising and diverse wines; significant temperature fluctuations between day and night and sufficient rainfall during the growing season create ideal conditions for high grape quality. Over 55 percent of the vineyard area is planted with the white varieties Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc, and Chardonnay.
