About Siddùra

The discovery of an abandoned, old vineyard in the breathtaking landscape of Gallura inspired the winemakers at Siddùra to take on a new challenge and helped make an old dream come true. The Siddùra winery describes itself as a love letter to Sardinia, a tribute to the island's purity, simplicity and tradition. A perfect combination of soil, terroir and weather in the midst of nature, close to the sea, produces its uniquely distinctive wines.

The Region

Wine has been made on Sardinia, Italy's second-largest island, for a very long time. Civilizations such as the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and Spaniards have left their mark, leading to a great diversity of grape varieties. Historically, linguistically and culturally, Sardinia seems detached from Italy; it is therefore no wonder that most of the significant grape varieties are of Spanish origin. Sardinia is home to a great number of grape varieties that are as distinctive as the Sardinians themselves. From these, an increasing number of winemakers produce equally individual yet outstanding wines that are considered a well-kept secret by many. Generally, the Mediterranean climate shapes Sardinia, although it is cooler in the north and very dry on the south coast; the soils are partly loamy inland and more sandy along the coast.
