Tosone Grillo Sicilia DOC 2024 White Wine – A sun-drenched and expressive wine. TOSONE Grillo Sicilia DOC – this is Sicily in a glass. A fresh start with stone fruit notes, a generous heart with hints of sweet spices and an enveloping, slightly roasted finish – like a dish that has been slowly braised under the Sicilian sun. On the nose: Ripe fruit, a touch of spices and a delicate nuance of roasted aromas. On the palate: Gentle fruitiness, warm vanilla spice and a delicious finish that recalls toasted bread. Best enjoyed at 10 - 12 °C – for moments when the sun shines with every sip.

The Region

Sicily, with Italy's largest wine-growing area, lies at the tip of the Italian boot; climate – intense summer heat and little rainfall, influenced by South Africa in the south – and geography – mountainous terrain with lean soils – make the island ideal for viticulture. This makes excellent use of the benefits of nature: hillside vineyards with excellent exposure, plenty of sunlight, favourable altitudes with significant temperature differences between day and night, as well as a wide range of distinctive indigenous grape varieties. The soils vary depending on the sub-region of the island: In the west, very lean soils of volcanic origin predominate. No wonder, then, that the most sought-after vineyards for intense, deep, dark and fruity wines are located on the slopes of Mount Etna. In other regions, sandy soils with a high iron content can be found. In combination with an underlying layer of limestone, they give the wines fresh mineral notes.
